This timber species, imported from the far east and more commonly known as Bangkiria, is perhaps the most well-known of all the decking timbers available. It has been extensively used in major developments, including on the Cape Town Waterfront Decking.
Saligna Gum is locally grown and harvested timber. This wood is a light pink hue, offering a soft and admirable aesthetic to any application. Additionally, this timber offers great value for money.
This is dark red timber imported from Brazil. Massaranduba is available with FSC certification and is best suited for decking alongside Balau as a substructure.
Garapa
Garapa is a South American timber that has gained widespread acceptance as an alternative to Balau over the past few years. This timber is light in colour and available kiln dried. This is also considered the ‘Rolls Royce’ of decking timbers due to its high durability rating and class A fire rating.
